MEMORANDUM OF CONVERSATION WITH THE PRESIDENT

The President confirmed the information from the White House that Mr. Wright Morrow did not wish to go to Australia, but did wish to go to Mexico. The President also confirmed the view that he did not wish to make a change in Mexico at the present time.
I recalled to the President that I had previously discussed Mr. Erhardt for the Australian post and asked him whether he wished to consider any other appointment. He said that he would like to think the matter over for a while. Therefore, the matter of Australia should be held up.
