Rubens, Rochester, New York Jacob Sincoff, New York City Mr. Rudolf G. Sonneborn, New York City Mr. Meyer F. Steinglass, New York City Mr. Julian B. Vanezky, Peoria, Illinois Rabbi Jonah B. Wize, New York City Mrs. David M. Levy, New York City Mr. Henry Montor (Henry Morgenthau, Jr. asked for this appointment about a month ago, and originally asked that the President see the whole Conference, which is meeting here. Last year, February 25th, the President received a delegation of the leaders of this campaign. This year their goal is for $170,000,000 (last year for $100,000,000 which was over-subscribed) This Meeting in Washington is called "Initial Gifts Meeting". | |
The Secretary of War [Robert P. Patterson] General John Hodge (Secretary Robert P. Patterson asked the President to talk to General Hodge, just returned from Korea, and is in the War Department for a few weeks to confer with State Department on our future policy in refer- ence to Korea. First time General Hodge has been in the United States for over five years. Has brilliant fighting record in Pacific, first in command of the American Division in the Solomons and later in command of the 24th Corps in Philippines and Okinawa. Went to Korea immediately after the Japanese surrender and has been there constantly ever since.) | |
