BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH

Dward Moore, Jr. was born around the year 1943. He graduated from Central High School in St. Joseph, Missouri in 1961 and attended Central Methodist College in Fayette, Missouri.

COLLECTION DESCRIPTION

The papers of Dward Moore, Jr. include correspondence, press clippings, postcards, and handwritten notes concerning Moore's encounter with President Harry S. Truman in 1946, when he was three years old and was photographed with the President in Independence, Missouri. The collection is arranged in one series, a Subject File.

The collection is mostly comprised of the contents of a scrapbook. The contents include press clippings featuring photographs of Moore with President Truman and articles about their encounter, postcards with pictures of the President and the Truman home in Independence, a letter from the President to Moore's grandmother, additional correspondence from family members and others, and Moore's transcript of his mother's handwritten account of his meeting with Truman. A photograph of Moore and a young girl with Truman, autographed by the President, is also included.
