COLLECTION DESCRIPTION

The papers of Robert E. Day include correspondence, reports, directories, itineraries, printed materials, and other items relating to Day's work as Special Assistant to the Chairman of the War Production Board and as Special Assistant to the Secretary of the Interior, during the administration of President Harry S. Truman. The collection is arranged in one series, a Subject File.

The Subject File contains Day's correspondence with a variety of people within the Department of the Interior, including Secretary Julius Krug. There is also personal information on Day, which includes resumes and applications for jobs with the Federal Government. The series also contains information about Day's employment with the War Production Board, which includes correspondence, directories, salary tables, pamphlets, and bulletins. Also included are detailed travel logs and itineraries for inspection trips taken by Secretary Krug in 1946 and 1948; thank you letters from Krug to U.S. Senators on the occasion of his resignation in 1949, and a Washington Post obituary on Krug's death in 1970.
