Description

A mid-1800's county map of Missouri. The map highlights the counties in color and shows towns, villages, forts, railroads finished and in progress, telegraph lines, rivers, and other details. Another map, in the top left corner, shows the railroad connection between St. Louis and New York. The New York and Erie Railroad Line and St. Louis are marked in red pencil. The rest of this piece includes drawings of the Great Railway Suspension Bridge, the United States Navy Yard in Brooklyn, New York, the Starrucca Viaduct, the New York and Erie Railroad Tunnel, Niagara Falls, and scenes involving an eagle and train. Handwriting on the front reads: "542/800." Handwriting on the back reads: "Misc. Map, Rail connections between St. Louis and New York."
