Description

A grid map, numbered 62D in a series, that is annotated to show the positions, headquarters, and movement of the 5th Division of the Australian Imperial Force during the German Spring Offensive. A line drawn in red pencil indicates troop movement from Poulainville to Bussy-les-Daours. Other areas highlighted are la Neuville, Corbie, Vaux-sur-Somme, Sailly-le-Sec, and Sailly-Laurette. Handwriting on the back reads: "Original map used by R.I.O. 140 Inf. 35 Div. while with Australian troops on north line May and Early June 1918." Other handwriting on the back reads: "Charlie 165, Harvey 63, Odell 92." Donated by Ralph E. Truman.
