Briefed Cabinet on Korea.

THE PRESIDENT

Read telegram from Phil Murray CIO which set forth that he was asking striking steel workers to return to work.

SNYDER

Urged Vice Pres to get Control Bill out of committee where it has been stalled.

LOVETT

Argued that Federal Bookkeeping is antiquated. Current expenditures should be amortized over a period of years in certain areas so that taxes could be spread over a period of years and not inflicted on one generation.

PERLMAN

Judge Pine in District Court ruled against government seizure of steel mills. On appeal the government won a stay of Pine's decision by a vote of 5 to 4. The case will now go to the Supreme Court in an attempt to get Pine's decision overruled.

CHAPMAN

Oil strike as of now - 46 plants are now shut down. Is serious affects 2,300,000 barrels a day but is hopeful it will work out next week.
