Lamar,

Dear Darling Nancy;--

I will answer your dear old letter which I received yesterday; the rain is just pouring down and the wind is blowing furiously, such a backward Spring I never did see, I think I'll migrate to some more genial clime, where there isn't any cyclones; wasn't that a terrible one they had at Kansas City Sunday eve? Strange there were so few killed. There was one at Oronoga a little tow thirty-five miles from here the same evening, the town was entirely destroyed, I didn't hear whether there was any one killed or not. I have just gotten through with my house hold duties, (you know they are very burdensome for there isn't any one here except Pa and my self) Mat's ma and pa came Monday night to visit her and they all went out to Jerico yesterday to see their relatives, were to have been home today, but I am afraid they'll not get here as it is raining so, and it is eighteen miles; they wanted me to go with them but I thought Pa would be too lonesome if he was left alone. I am going to teach either in Lamar or about two miles from here, I expect it will be decided this week, if it isn't I am going to let Pa attend to it and I am going to start home next Wednesday, there is to be a basket meeting at our church the fourth Sunday and I am going home to attend it. You wanted to know what had become of J. S. H? He is at home like a good little fellow, received a letter from him day before yesterday. Received a letter from Lute the other day telling me about those girls at the Presbyterian school being expelled, wasn't it awful about them? I hope you'll have a nice time at your fish fry - wish I could be with you, Didn't Nellie Pharr go to school any place this last year: I bet if Mary and Caruthers have made up it will not be long before they marry. Nothing would please me better than to get to eat out of one of your new plates, but really my dear, I haven't made me a single new dress this Spring, and can't until I go home and go to K.C. for I wouldn't buy anything here, and then they would have to be made and, by that time it would be too late, you know I'd like the best in the world to see all of you. Look here old girl, I am getting tired waiting for your picture, if you don't send it I never will believe you again. Nan, just please send me one now that's a good little girl. Give my love to Miss Lida and tell her to make you behave, with lots of love to your self. I am lovingly yours Write soon.
