My dearest Nan:--

Yours just received, am so overjoyed don't know what to say and do. Of course you old Simpleton, it will suit me. I thought all the time you would get to come. Lute is in great trouble, poor darling, my heart bleeds for her. I will tell you when I see you if she doesn't. I know you will mingle your tears with ours when you hear. If I can possibly I will meet you, but if I don't, remember Joe T. Noland, Woodland Avenue (now West White Oak, Independence) I am in the country & you know how it is sometimes about getting to town but I am going if possible. I can scarcely wait, the days seem weeks. Be sure and come. I will be just as glad to see you in your old clothes as in new ones. You know that makes no difference with me. I do want to see you so much. Love to all & much to you. I am going to rest up & talk you to death when I see you.

Yours in haste,

Mattie.
