Dulles' Talk Angers Acheson By Drew Pearson
Secretary of State Acheson is boiling mad at John Foster Dulles for making speeches criticizing the North Atlantic pact.
Acheson blew up when he read Dulles' speech in Cleveland before the Federal Council of Churches lambasting the State Department for inviting Norway to join the pact while under Russian pressure. Dulles warned this might provoke Russia into attacking.
When Acheson read this he remarked: "Dulles just can't get over the fact that Dewey lost the election and he isn't now Secretary of State."
