MEMORANDUM
Item No. 1
White House Help on the Korean Bill
The president agrees with our conclusion that we should push ahead on the Korean program and not wait for the release of the White Paper.
He will help us with the leadership in the House. We are to suggest to him when the time has come for him to get into the struggle.

MEMORANDUM OF CONVERSATION WITH THE PRESIDENT
Item No. 2
The Republican Member on Far Eastern Study Group
I mentioned to the President the name of Mr. Deutsch, Provost of the University of California, and said that I was not certain whether or not he is a Republican. The President interposed no objection and was not able to come up with any other suggestion.
Since it has now been established that Mr. Deutsch is a Democrat, we will have to consider this matter further.

MEMORANDUM OF CONVERSATION WITH THE PRESIDENT
Item No. 6
Procedure on Release of the White Paper
The President's suggestion, in which I heartily concurred, was as follows:
The summary of the White Paper should be incorporated in a letter from me to the President. At the same time a letter should be drafted from the President to Senator Connally and Chairman Kee (we should consider whether similar letters should be written to the Vice President and the Speaker) transmitting my letter and the White Paper. When these letters were received on the Hill, the President would make them public from the White House.
