MEMORANDUM
In my conversation with Ambassador Douglas, reported in another memorandum, I asked him to try to get in touch with Mr. Raymond Fosdick who, I understand, was in London. I asked the Ambassador to have a chat with him and, without mentioning me, let me have his views as to whether Mr. Fosdick would be a good person to work with Mr. Jessup on the Chinese problem. I said that we were just exploring this and were not at all certain that Mr. Fosdick with the man. The Ambassador said that he had considerable doubts that he would be, but that he would get in touch with Mr. Fosdick and talk with him along the lines I indicated and send me a cable.
Ambassador Douglas said that he thought there were one or two other people working in the Rockefeller Foundation who would be excellent. The one name he recalled at the moment was a Dr. Gunn.
