MEMORANDUM OF CONVERSATION WITH SECRETARY SNYDER
Mr. Snyder brought up in the Cabinet the report that the Banking and Currency Committees of both houses were going to start hearings next week on the guarantee features of the Point 4 program. He believes that it is a great mistake to take this part of the program up before the technical part. Probably the difficulty arises from the preoccupation of the foreign committees of both houses with MAP.
The President thought that Snyder was right. It seemed to me that he probably was. At any rate I did not dissent. He said that he would take it up with the leaders on Monday.
This should be reported to whoever is interested in it.
