Congressman Lindley Beckworth telephoned the Secretary that he wanted to talk with him about the situation facing the Texas oil industry.
The Secretary said that he had discussed the problems with a group of Texas Congressmen last spring and was very much aware of the situation. Mr. Acheson said that the Department was following the matter very closely and that discussions with the British were going on.
Mr. Beckworth said he merely wanted the Secretary to know of his interest in the matter and of his call in support of the views set forth by his Congressional colleagues from Texas.
