MEETING WITH THE PRESIDENT
Item 3. Minister Garret
I gave the President the report on Mr. George Garrett in accordance with Mr. Peurifoy's memorandum to me of February 9.
The President said that he had no other person in mind for the Irish post and that therefore, since it appeared to be satisfactory to us, we could leave Mr. Garrett where he was and appoint him Ambassador if, as and when the post was raised.
