The President approved the program for Mrs. Pinchot as outlined in the memorandum of February 2 attached hereto.

Item No. 5 Japanese Peace Treaty
In a general way I sketched out for the President some of the ideas presented to me at the meeting this morning, and asked whether the preparation of a NSC paper along these lines seemed sound to him. He said that he had been worrying about this matter and thought the ideas we had seemed hopeful. He approved going forward with the preparation of the paper.
