MEMORANDUM OF CONVERSATION WITH THE PRESIDENT AND SENATOR BRIDGES
The meeting was very friendly and satisfactory. At the end of it the President issued the statement which had been previously cleared with him and Senator Bridges.
I am to confer with Senator Bridges about having a meeting with some senior Republicans after I have had a meeting with the Foreign Relations Committee on the subjects which are to be discussed in London. I have talked this over with Senator Cooper, who will be prepared in a few day, after he has made some soundings, to give some names to me to suggest or to have in mind in my talk with Senator Bridges.
In the meeting with the President we did not discuss the McCarthy business but stuck to the subjects contained in the press release.
