DEPARTMENT OF STATE Memorandum of Conversation
DATE: 8-29-50
SUBJECT: Departure from Washington of Uruguayan Ambassador Dominguez Campora
PARTICIPANTS: The Secretary Uruguayan Ambassador, Dr. Alberto Dominguez Campora Dr. Jose A. Mora, Uruguayan Minister Mr. John K. Havemeyer, EC
COPIES TO: ARA- Mr. Miller ARA/P S/S (2) Embassy Montevideo
I greeted Uruguayan Ambassador Dominguez Campora and advised him that I deeply regretted the news that he was leaving Washington as he had so capably performed his duties here and had greatly assisted in furthering the relations between the United States and Uruguay.
Ambassador Dominguez Campora said that I was not losing an ambassador in Washington as he would be an Ambassador for the United States in Uruguay despite the fact he might be leaving the Uruguayan Government service. In view of the Ambassador's remarks, I replied that ambassador Ravndal in Montevideo would find in Ambassador Domingues Campora a good partner. At parting I thanked the Ambassador for the Artigas bust that he had sent me.
