MEMORANDUM
To Mr. Humelsine Miss Fosdick
The Secretary took over to the White House last Thursday (2/8) the papers which you prepared and discussed with him the preceding day. He talked to Mr. Hassett about the problem and told me after the meeting that Mr. Hassett was inclined to think we should "keep out of the whole business". Whether this means that the Secretary wants to drop the matter, I do not know. I think he probably wants some time to think it over.
I will let you know if there are any further developments.
