MEETING WITH THE PRESIDENT
Item 1. Syrian-Israeli Dispute
I went over with the President the proposed resolution. Our conversation centered on paragraph 3. The President agreed with the view I expressed, which was that this paragraph, certainly in anything like its present form, is unwise.
I shall discuss this matter at greater length with Mr. McGhee and Mr. Hickerson.

MEETING WITH THE PRESIDENT
Item 2. Senator Fullbright's Letter of May 8
I discussed with the President Senator Fullbright's letter to me of May 8. There is some misunderstanding on somebody's part because the President has no recollection of any such conversation with former Senator Lucas. I shall suggest a change in the letter to Senator Fullbright.

MEETING WITH THE PRESIDENT
Item 5. Miss Margaret Truman's visit to Europe
The President mentioned to me Miss Margaret Truman's visit to Europe. She is talking the arrangements over with Ambassador Simmons. I suggested to the President the advisability of having Miss Truman stay at our Embassies in the various countries which she is going to visit. He said that she wishes to be as inconspicuous as possible and both he and she are willing to follow our advice.
I should like to discuss this matter with Ambassador Simmons and Mr. Perkins.
