MEMORANDUM OF TELEPHONE CONVERSATION
Participants: Mr. Lovett Mr. Acheson
Mr. Lovett telephoned the Secretary this morning to say that he had just gotten back to the office after a 3 day week-end and wanted to tell the Secretary what a wonderful job he had done in San Francisco.
Mr. Lovett then said that with regard to the Ottawa talks, there is a Standing Group Working Party which is going up within the next few days. General Bradley and Mr. Lovett were wondering whether there should also be someone available, and Mr. Lovett had in mind asking Frank Pace to go up if needed. The Secretary said that somebody sent a message to Mr. Perkins yesterday that the General (General Marshall) was going up, but Mr. Lovett and Mr. Acheson both thought that this was without foundation and that Mr. Pace would be the one to go.
Mr. Lovett said he would let the Secretary know.
