In his telephone conversation with Mr. Charles A. Sprague the Secretary covered Points, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 (with the exception of the information regarding the wife occupying the suite without charge and that other expenses of the wife were paid by the delegate), 6, 8 and 10. Secretary Acheson telephoned Mr. Charles A. Sprague at Salem, Oregon to ask him to serve as an Alternate to the forthcoming General Assembly in New York next month. The Secretary outlined rather fully the duties of our representatives to the GA and the physical arrangements in connection with the meeting.
Mr. Sprague said that he was flattered by the Secretary's request and that although he hardly felt competent to serve in such a responsible office, he thought perhaps to have a representative from the Northwest and West Coast would be a good thing, and he would arrange to do it. The Secretary said he would send Mr. Sprague any supplemental information and material he would need in connection with the assignment.
