Dear Bess:

I believe you think you owe me a letter. I hope you do. This is merely to convince you that you do, and to apologize for the precipitate? (hee-hee) way in which I left yesterday evening. I don't believe I even said I'd enjoyed the evening and the lunch and your cousins but I did. Please imagine I said it - and church too.

I got George's invitation this morning. I wrote him a note and thanked him for it. He probably can't read it. If he can't maybe you can translate it for him. Don't forget to send Frank my very best wishes when you write. I feel highly flattered that he should think to remember me twice.

Hope you have a good time up at Mac's tomorrow Miss McDermond's I mean and should say. You say Mac's that's how it came. Tell ‘em we're coming the 19th if you want to go that day. Don't let them persuade you to go to Cal. That is unless you want to go most awful bad yourself. It takes letters a dickens of a while to come from out there you know, and I couldn't possibly run out there and stay all day and come back the next.

I planted corn today and it has done its best to rain twice but has not succeeded. Here's hoping it don't until Saturday at noon and then come with a trash mover for a couple of hours and then be a fine evening. Would that suit you? Oh ho for Margota as King Henry IV said to King Lousi XI of Francais.

Write me a big letter and don't be in a hurry no I mean don't be rushed by in a hurry.

Harry
