Dear Bess:

The train arrived ten minutes ahead of time. Bill came to meet me and I missed him. The walk across was what I needed anyway. Had a good night's rest and am ready to go for the Standard Oil Company again this morning. The B & O man met me and the head redcap also met me in St. Louis. The redcap said they'd given him hell because we had to carry our own bags. I told him not to worry about it that it didn't hurt a senator to work once in a while.

There were some men from Arkansas who were in the Reserve at Ft. Riley with me on the train and we had a very pleasant visit and dinner together. When I got ready to pay for mine the dining car conductor handed me a telegram from St. Louis saying my dinner was paid for. Mr. Edmondson the B & O man who went with us to Gen. Pershing's party at the Walter Reed Hospital was the host. It rather surprised my dinner companions - and me too.

Our friend Berenstein is still here more's the pity and I've got to have breakfast with him this morning. He's the most persistent nuisance I've ever been indebted to - including Mrs. Bryan. Take care of yourself. Kiss my baby and the best to the rest of the family.

Love to you Harry
