Dear Bess:

Well a better day--a letter with my baby's picture in it. It was a swell and diplomatic statement. The old man himself couldn't have done as well with all his expert advice. I suppose you are glad to have Mrs. Fred Wallace back home. How did she find her mother? I hope she recovered her sight all right.

Well I've had the usual hectic day. Several customers came as usual. I'm being haunted by Leighton Shields and Colonel Henderson and I suppose I deserve it. Had lunch with Forrestal and his assistant and took the old coupe down to get the window fixed so it would go up and down and have the gear shift put into workable condition. It runs like a new one now and I almost hate to sell it. We'll see when we get it home.

Here are the paper's spasms on the federal judges. Have had nothing but nice letters from home about Duncan. Mr. Roberts wants to have breakfast with me tomorrow so I guess he's got some skullduggery up his sleeve. You see also that the St. Joe paper was very nice. I've got to run in order to get the car greased. Looks like I'll get off all right on Thursday afternoon.

Kiss Margie, love to you, Harry
