My dear Daughter:-

It was a grand feeling to arrive and know that I would see a good letter from my good looking young lady daughter - although she'll always be my baby. I was not disappointed. It was a very good letter.

Miss Janie Chiles was a teacher in the Independence Schools when your mother and I went to them as was your cousin Nellie Noland. I did not get any studies under Miss Chiles. I don't know whether your mother did or not. She may have - you know she was much brighter at school - and since also, than your dad.

I am hoping that you'll have a Galli-Curchi [sic] [Amelita Galli-Curci] voice. Personally I know you have but I want everyone else to believe it too. With a Senator and a Margaretta with a great voice in the family no one could high hat us then - and we can always be nice to everybody.

I can't promise not to fly any more. You never can tell when it will be essential for me to be somewhere on short notice and I'm not afraid. The only reason I rode back on the train was to make you and mamma feel easy. They needed me too.

I haven't and won't see any pictures I'm sure until you take me to see one. I never have time here. Study that Spanish very hard. It'll be most valuable, so will that nice singing voice. Hope to be home again for a day or two next week.

Kiss mamma for me. Love to you. Forgot to give you your allowance. Here are some new dollar bills. You'd better keep Uncle Frank in the dark.

Dad.
