Description
Charpentry, France. "It was near this point that the infantry was driven back thru us and we were given orders to direct our guns to the top of the ridge shown in the upper part of the picture. The infantry reported that the Germans were just behind them and we expected to see them come over the hill any moment." From an album of Lorain H. Cunningham, who served in the 129th Field Artillery during World War I and was a friend of Harry S. Truman.
