Description
Private Leonard D. Smorch, of Flint, Michigan, accepts a certificate of achievement from Major General Louis W. Truman, 4th Infantry Division and Fort Lewis Commander, after winning July honors in Fort Lewis' "soldier of the month" competition. Smorch's battalion commander Lieutenant Colonel Robert C. Marshall, and Company Commander, 1st Lieutenant Gerald W. Chase, are at right.
