Description
Bell X-1 airplane, autographed to President Truman by the recipients of the Collier Award in 1948: John Stack, Charles "Chuck" Yeager, Larry Bell. The Collier Award was received for breaking the sound barrier in the X-1. This photograph apparently came to Mr. Truman from Mr. R. W. Phelps, Executive Vice President of the National Aeronautics Association, Washington, D. C.
