Description
Secretary of Defense Louis Johnson after his return from a week-end conference with General Dwight D. Eisenhower and the Joint Chiefs at Key West, Florida, telling reporters they had accomplished more at the meeting than during any other similar period in the last three years. He said the Joint Chiefs are "truly a team" although each is a "star" in his military field. Johnson expressed a strong desire that Congress approve President Truman's proposal to give the Defense Secretary more power and to unify the three services. From: Beth Gore
