After Postmaster General Robert Hannegan announced he was stepping down as Chairman of the Democratic National Committee, it was then announced that Senator J. Howard McGrath (D), Rhode Island, had been designated as his successor. The Senator, shown here at a press conference, said he planned to keep on being a Senator. From: Beth Gore
