Description

Presidential Press Secretary Charles Ross, shown as he gave reporters the details of the President's Executive Order invoking the Taft-Hartley Act in the soft coal dispute. The order came as a first step in getting a Federal court to order 400,000 striking coal miners back to work. The President appointed a board of inquiry to examine the dispute and report to him by next Monday. From: Beth Gore.
