Stanley Woodward, (1eft) former State Department Protocol Chief is congratulated by Secretary of State Dean Acheson after he was sworn in as U. S. Ambassador to Canada. Mrs. Woodward (center) will accompany her husband when he leaves for his new post to succeed the late Laurence A. Steinhardt, who was killed in a plane crash in March.
