The duck shooting expedition he was on took place 75 miles outside of Moscow near Zagorsk, Russia. Those mentioned in Thayer's typewritten account that went along with him included: Eddy Page, Grecia, a Red Army Brigadier General, the chief warden of the Army preserve and guides. Charles Thayer was living in Moscow, Russia at the time.
