Dean Virginia Gildersleeve, only U.S. woman delegate to the United Nations Organization Conference in San Francisco, addresses a Russian relief rally at Madison Square Garden which launched the agency's 1946 campaign for $25,000,000 worth of medical supplies, hospital equipment, food, clothing and other relief items. Speaking before 19,000 people, Dean Gildersleeve urged an exchange of students and professors between the U.S.A. and the U.S.S.R. as an aid to promoting better understanding between the two countries.
