Presentation of the National Capital Sesquicentennial stamp takes place in Postmaster General Jesse Donaldson's office. Chief Justice Fred Vinson represented the Federal Government Judicial Branch. Carter Barron represented the Sesquicentennial Commission as Vice President of that Committee. The stamp went on sale to the general public on August 2 , 1950.
