King Abdullah of Jordan Talks with Nassib Boulos

This photograph was taken by E. Clifton Daniel, Jr. while working for the New York Times. This was part of a group of photographs belonging to E. Clifton Daniel, Jr. which he used in his book, "Lords, Ladies and Gentlemen: A Memoir." Original caption: The picture is of King Abdullah of Jordan (left), grandfather of King Hussein, talking with Palestinian lawyer Nassib Boulos on the terrace of the King's winter palace. King Abdullah is wearing a white Turkish robe and blue serge trousers.

James F. Byrnes and King George VI Shake Hands

Secretary of State James F. Byrnes (foreground, second from left) and King George VI (center, right) shake hands during the King visit aboard the USS Augusta. Also present are Admiral William D. Leahy (left), President Harry S. Truman (foreground, third from left, mostly obscured by King George VI), Captain James Foskett (right), and Captain James K. Vardaman (just behind Captain Foskett). All others are unidentified. King George VI visited the Augusta before it left to return to the United States from the Potsdam Conference.

E. Clifton Daniel, Jr. (right) talks with King Peter II of Yugoslavia in air force uniform. King Peter II was living in exile in London in 1944 while his country was occupied by the Germans, and Tito was in the process of seizing it. The King, then 21, was photographed with the journalist at a meeting of the Anglo-American Press Association. The two men in the background are unidentified.
