The USS Manchester arrives at Long Beach, California naval station after a tour in the Korean War Zone since September 13, 1950.

On June 16, 1951, the USS Manchester arrives in Long Beach, California after nearly a year on combat duty in the Korean War. Fourteen Hollywood actors and actresses were on hand to greet the returning officers and men. Those shown, from left to right, Dorothy Lamour, Virginia Field, Marilyn Monroe, Helena Carter, Carole Morton, and Joyce Mackenzie.

Crew members of the USS Manchester wrote messages to USS Los Angeles on the metal exterior of the ship. Message reads "Choice Real Estate/ Kalma Gak/ Hodo Pando / 5 acres - 500 rds." Original caption: Two forts which frequently had us under fire - Kalma Gak and Hodo Pando.
