Admiral William F. Halsey, retired, said today that outside of a strategic bombing force, he "can see no excuse for" an autonomous air service. Halsey made the statement in testimony before the Senate Armed Forces Committee on the Administration's proposal for unifying the military services. From: Beth Gore
