Mrs. Franc McCluer was Hostess of Luncheon at Westminster College
Mrs. Franc McCluer, wife of Dr. Franc McCluer, President of Westminster College, was hostess for a luncheon given in honor of President Harry S. Truman and Britain's former Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. Both men received honorary degrees from the College. Cooks from all over Callaway County had been pressed into service. The star of the menu was Callaway County ham. Churchill relished the meal. He solemnly proclaimed, "The pig has reached its highest point of evolution in this ham!" From: Hathon M. Fields.
