Margaret Truman receives a porcelain model of the Freedom Bell

During her European tour, Margaret Truman visited Berlin, Germany, where she was received by Mayor Dr. Walther Schreiber and the Protocol Chief, Dr. Busse, at the Schoeneberg Townhall. Dr. Schreiber handed her a porcelain model of the Freedom Bell. She also signed the Golden Guestbook of the city Berlin. Left to right are: Professor Eich, Dr. Busse, Miss Truman, and Dr. Schreiber. President Harry S. Truman (center, left) shakes hands with New York Governor Thomas E. Dewey (center, right) as they meet for the first time since nominated by their respective parties for the Presidency. They attended the dedication of the Idlewild Airport in New York City, the largest in the world at that time. On the left is Grover A. Whalen, Chairman of the Mayor's Committee for the Commemoration of the Golden Anniversary of the City of New York. Second from the right is New York Mayor William O'Dwyer. The others are unidentified.

Ford Motor Co. present safety belts

From left to right, Henry Edmonds, Truman Library Director Dr. Philip Brooks, Wayne Fellows, Independence, Missouri Mayor William Sermon, and another unidentified Ford Company representative present the Chief of Police Louis Howell with safety belts for the Independence, Missouri Police Department. This event took place while the Ford Caravan across the country stopped at the Truman Library.

Truman, Mayor Kennelly, and Frank McKinney at Midway Airport, Chicago

President Harry S. Truman, Chicago Mayor Martin H. Kennelly (center), and Frank McKinney (right), Chairman of the Democratic National Committee, are shown in the back seat of an automobile. The President, having just arrived at Midway Airport, was in Chicago to attend the 1952 Democratic National Convention. Shaking hands with the President is Gary Jacobsen, a young boy, who caught the President's eye and was motioned to "come up to the car." (See 70-129 thru 132.) From: Gary Jacobsen.

Truman gets a salute from Louis Jensen, mascot of the 637th National Guard Division

Louis Jensen, age three, exchanged a salute with his Commander-in-Chief, as President Harry S. Truman (third from the right) left the Fairmont Hotel to address the first plenary session of the Japanese Peace Conference in San Francisco, California. Louis is the mascot of the 637th National Guard Division. California's Governor Earl Warren (second from the right) and San Francisco's Mayor Elmer Robinson (left) accompanied the President.
