President Truman Presents Medal of Honor to Desmond T. Doss
President Harry S. Truman presents the Congressional Medal of Honor to Corporal Desmond T. Doss, Lynchburg, Virginia, during a mass Medal of Honor presentation ceremony held at the White House gardens. Corporal Doss, a conscientious objector, earned the citation while serving as a medical corpsman with the 77th Division on Okinawa during World War II.
