Clothing Store Sale - Korean War Home Movies

Home movies shot by Lieutenant Daniel Karp during his service in the Air Force in the Korean War. Karp was mainly stationed in Japan, where he ran clothing and shoe stores at Ashiya Air Base. This film shows the operation of the store, a sale at the store, the AMC Clothing Manual #67-5, and the PX. It starts by showing pages from the manual, then follows a soldier as he walks around the base and into the clothing store. Store workers (both Japanese civilians and American soldiers) help the man find the clothes he needs, he tries them on and they check the fit.

Korean War Home Movies by Charles Spurlin

Home movies taken during the Korean War by American soldier Charles Spurlin, exact date unknown, c. 1951-1953. Most of this reel was taken from a moving vehicle and is fast-moving and jumpy. It shows the Korean countryside, local residents going about daily life, and activities at an unidentified military base. There are a couple of glimpses of military airplanes flying overhead. The quality of this footage varies from fair to good.

Handwriting on the back reads: "Senatorial Papers of Harry S. Truman. Nat. Def. Projects-In Missouri-April 1941. Ltr. of June 27, 1941."
