Portrait of Edgar Hinde, Jr

Head-and-shoulders portrait of Edgar Hinde, Jr., former Postmaster of Independence, Missouri, and friend of former President Harry S. Truman. The photo was taken during an interview by noted writer Merle Miller for the Truman television adaption of Miller's book, "Plain Speaking," which appeared on the Public Broadcasting System in 1976.

Mr. Truman has been in New York for several days of active politicking and leaves for Boston later in the day for a major speech there. The picture is autographed: "To Hon Harry S.
