Crowded Meeting Room at The Potsdam Conference

Prior to start of "Big Three" conference in an elaborate estate in the Potsdam area, U. S. Army Signal Corps and Russian Army photographers record the historic moment for the world to see. In top center can be seen the "Big Three", President Harry S. Truman, Josef Stalin, and Winston Churchi1l, all with backs to camera. Inscribed on back of photo: "This is the place I told Stalin about the Atom bomb, which was exploded July 16, 1945 in New Mexico. He didn't realize what I was talking about! HST"

President Harry S. Truman Speaks at the University of California at Berkeley
