Sixty-Five of the 153 living veterans of Battery "D", 129th F.A., 35th Division, met at Hotel Jefferson, St. Louis, Missouri, for a reunion breakfast. At the dinner table, left to right, are: Fred L. Schmidt, Secretary of the Battery organization; Eugene P. Donnelly, Kansas City attorney who was a corporal, and President Harry S. Truman. Former President Harry S. Truman (center) poses for a photo with Henry Selvitella and Lena Selvitella at the Truman Library. In 1950, Mr. Truman received a plaque from Henry Selvitella, National Commander of the Italian-American War Veterans, awarding the former President a lifetime membership in the organization.
