Map of the Positions and Movement of German Divisions During the Spring Offensive

A French map that has been overprinted in English to show the "German Order of Battle" as of May 8, 1918. The map, labeled "Serial No. 18," describes the condition of German divisions (tired, refitting, or fresh), divisions in line for possible reinforcement, divisions withdrawn to other sectors, and the engagement of divisions. A red pencil annotation is at Sailly-le-Sec. Handwriting on the back reads: "14 Bde, Intelligence, and Aust. Corps."

The map details transportation routes, boundaries, fortified towns, forts, redoubts, batteries, etc. The map of France, England, Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany, Switzerland, and the Netherlands has areas marked in red, blue, and green pencil. A red line from the Argonne Forest to Pompey indicates allied movement. There is also a green line from Ault and Eu to Buchy. Handwriting on the back reads: "Route Marked Map."

A French map titled "Carte Routiere pour Automobilistes & Cyclistes-Nord-Est de la France." The map, numbered 2 in a series, shows transportation routes in northeast France, Belgium, Luxembourg, and Germany. Annotations, in black ink, indicate allied movement from Charpentry, Very, Cheppy, and Varennes through Neuvilly, Vaubecourt, Bar-le-Duc, and Commercy to Ancemont. Handwriting on the back reads: "Pride, #2, Verdun." Donated by Joseph C. Pride.
