President Truman - Oval Office Recording

Oval Office Memovox disc recording, which includes May 23, 1945 press conference in the Oval Office. President Harry S. Truman's eighth news conference was held in his office at the White House at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, May 23, 1945. The recording is poor quality except for the press conference, which can be heard fairly plainly. Also contains other conversation fragments that are hard to understand. The Oval Office recordings were made from 1945 to 1948 by a Memovox machine kept in the Oval Office. This recording was made from Memovac disc 500x.

President Harry S. Truman's remarks broadcast as part of a Franklin D. Roosevelt Memorial Program at the Roosevelt estate in Hyde Park, NY. President Truman's recorded remarks were delivered from Kansas City and start around 13:00. The President spoke at 3:40 p.m. from his room in the Muehlebach Hotel in Kansas City, MO. Also included in the recording are remarks by Henry Morgenthau, Reverend Frank Wilson, and former First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt. After the president's remarks is a recording of the National Anthem. This program was broadcast nationwide, and this recording is by NBC.
