July 1, 1948. With President Harry S. Truman's announcement today that Mrs. Franklin D. Roosevelt will be acceptable to him as a vice-presidential candidate on the Democratic ticket in November, and his prediction of his own nomination for the presidency on the first ballot at the Democratic Convention in Philadelphia two weeks hence; the pictured duo - President Truman and Mrs. Roosevelt - may well be the Democratic slate in November. While Mrs. Eleanor Roosevelt was holding a press conference in Kansas City, an old friend walked in -- Harry S. Truman. Mrs. Roosevelt greeted the former President cordially and the photographer caught them in a jovial mood following on Mr. Truman's comical remarks. From: Houston Post.
