THE PRESIDENT
Asked Webb for report on Paris Conference.
WEBB
Nothing further to report of any material progress.
CLARK
Is having difficult time in prosecution of the Coplon espionage case - but is determined to go forward with the prosecution.
KRUG
Hawaiian strike is becoming more serious - but there is no possible way for Federal action to be taken.
WEBB
Took up Mexican loan for oil development. Mexico asked for 200 million that was worked down to 143 million. State now thinks that it can be worked down to 60 million.
THE PRESIDENT
We have a civilian president of Mexico. They are in a bad dollar situation. We are hopeful that independent oil companies can be guaranteed that there will be no expropriation. If this can be assured we should be able to make them a good loan.
JOHNSON
Asked that the Army people can now be given chance to discuss among themselves and hold meeting to work it out with State Dept on Monday.
WEBB
Agreed to this.
THE PRESIDENT
Ordered it done that way.
